Spicy Studio vs Canva AI (2026): Design Suite or AI Studio?

Spicy Studio wrote this comparison, so it isn't neutral. In October 2026 we read Canva's pricing, AI, video and policy pages. We didn't test output quality, and plans change.

Pick Canva when the finished piece is a layout: posts with headlines, carousels, decks, flyers, anything that must match brand fonts and colors. Its AI sits inside that editor, next to templates, Brand Kits and real-time collaboration.

Pick Spicy Studio when the asset is the job and you want to choose the model: product shots staged from your photo, clips of up to 30 seconds in 9:16 or 16:9, a character moved by a reference video, upscales to 8K. You pay per generation from one credit balance.

Canva's AI page lists Magic Layers, which turns an AI-made design into an editable layout, plus Style Match, a photo generator, Magic Write and on-brand generation that applies your Brand Kit. A chat assistant, Canva AI 2.0, was marked “coming soon” when we checked.

For video, Create a Video Clip runs on Google's Veo 3: one 16:9 clip of up to eight seconds per prompt, with synchronized dialogue, sound effects and music, for a limited number of clips a month on paid plans.

AI use draws on a monthly allowance. Canva estimates up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses on Free (with no Ultra AI), up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra uses on Pro, and 400 or 40 on Business. High-quality video clips count as Ultra AI.

Branded graphics with text: Canva. Layout, type, Brand Kits (one with three colors on Free, 5 on Pro, 100 with approvals on Business) and more than 3.6 million templates on paid plans, by Canva's count. Spicy Studio has no layout editor, text tools or brand kits.

Product photos: Spicy Studio. In the Image Lab, stage your product with Nano Banana 2.1 (up to 14 references, 12 credits at 2K) or edit precisely with GPT Image 2.5. Product templates preload a prompt (18 credits), Multi-Shot makes several shots from one image (16 credits each) and Image Upscale reaches 8K for 12.

Short video: it depends on the format. If Canva's 16:9 clips of up to eight seconds fit, your allowance may cover them. For 9:16 Reels, longer shots or a choice of models, the Video Lab has Seedance 2.5 (4–30 seconds with native audio), Kling 3.0 (controlled motion from a start frame) and Veo 3.1 (8 seconds at up to 4K).

Presenters and motion transfer. Canva can turn a photo into a talking presenter. Spicy Studio's Lip Sync makes a face photo speak an MP3 of up to 60 seconds (from 10 credits a second), and Character Swap moves a character image with a driving video (Kling 3.0 Motion Control, 20 credits a second at Standard).

Teams: Canva. Business adds team admin tools and per-member billing; Spicy Studio has no multi-seat plans.

18+ content: Spicy Studio, adults only. Canva's Acceptable Use Policy (updated August 7, 2025) bars sexually explicit or pornographic content. Spicy Studio's four uncensored models, including Spicy UNCENSORED and Spicy UNCENSORED Video, are for adults 18+ and only for fictional or consenting adults; content involving minors, non-consent or real people without documented consent is prohibited. Generations are private to your account by default.

Canva showed us euro prices billed yearly: Pro €110 a year for one person, Business €170 a year per person, Enterprise through sales. Pro and Business have free trials, though the trial AI allowance matches Free.

Canva's fee buys a design suite with an AI allowance; Spicy Studio's buys generations. On Spicy Basic, 600 credits cover about 50 Nano Banana 2.1 images at 2K, ten 5-second Kling 3.0 Standard clips or seven 8-second Veo 3.1 clips at 720p.

Make the image. Upload your product photo to the Image Lab and describe the scene: “A matte black water bottle on a wet slate ledge at sunrise, soft rim light, 4:5 frame.” Nano Banana 2.1 at 2K costs 12 credits.

Cut it out. The Background Remover turns the keeper into a transparent PNG for 4 credits.

Lay it out. Upload the PNG to Canva, place it in a template and apply your Brand Kit, headline and logo.

Add motion. For a Reel, animate the scene with Seedance 2.5 at 9:16 (110 credits for 5 seconds at 720p) and add captions in Canva's video editor.
