AI Character Swap: Give Your Character the Moves From a Reference Video

Character Swap is motion transfer: it animates one character image with the movement of a reference video between 3 and 30 seconds long. Steps, gestures and timing come from the clip; the look comes from your image. Keep Original Audio is on by default, so the result keeps the reference video’s sound unless you switch it off.

The character can be you, a mascot, an illustration or an AI character from the Image Lab. Use your own likeness, fictional or AI-generated characters, or real people who have consented, never anyone without their consent, and pick a motion video you filmed yourself or have permission to use.

How to transfer motion onto your character

  1. Upload the character image

Choose a clear, well-lit image of the character, up to 10 MB. A photo of yourself, an illustration or an AI-generated character can all be used.

  2. Add the motion video

Upload the clip whose movement you want to copy, 3 to 30 seconds long. Switch off Keep Original Audio if you don’t want its sound in the result.

  3. Choose a model and guide the look

Pick Kling 3.0 Motion Control or Spicy Motion Control and a quality tier. An optional prompt sets style, lighting or atmosphere, and the negative prompt lists what to keep out.

  4. Generate and download

The cost, based on the length of the motion video, appears next to Generate before you spend anything, and failed runs are refunded. Download the clip, or use Reuse Input to try a different prompt.

Motion models

  • Kling 3.0 Motion Control

Motion transfer on the newer Kling 3.0 generation, in Standard (20 credits per second of motion) or Pro (27). Billing rounds up to the next second with a 3-second minimum, so 10 seconds on Standard cost 200 credits.

  • Spicy Motion Control (Kling 2.6)

Runs on Kling 2.6 and renders at 720p for 12 credits per second or at 1080p for 20. Five seconds at 720p cost 60 credits.

See how both compare with every other model on the AI Models page.

What people make with Character Swap

  • Dance and trend remakes starring you or a fictional character, from a reference you filmed or may use.
  • Mascots and brand characters that wave, walk or present.
  • Illustrations and AI characters brought to life with human movement.
  • Product presenters that show an item with natural gestures.

Character Swap, Face Swap or Lip Sync?

Character Swap moves a whole character to match a video. Face Swap replaces only the face in a still photo and keeps its pose and lighting. If a portrait just needs to speak a recording, Lip Sync is the simpler route.

Character Swap FAQ

How many credits does a character swap cost?

It depends on the length of the motion video: Kling 3.0 Motion Control charges 20 credits a second on Standard and 27 on Pro (3-second minimum), so 10 seconds on Standard cost 200, while Spicy Motion Control charges 12 a second at 720p and 20 at 1080p. The 25 free credits on a new account don’t cover a clip; plans start at €10 a month for 600 credits and one-time packs at €2 for 90.

How long can the reference video be?

Between 3 and 30 seconds. The character image can be up to 10 MB and works best when it’s clear and well lit.

Does the result keep the reference video’s sound?

Yes, by default: Keep Original Audio is on and carries the music or voice from the reference into your clip. Switch it off if you don’t want that sound or don’t have the rights to it.

Which motion model should I choose?

Both take the same inputs, a character image and a motion video. Kling 3.0 Motion Control runs on the newer Kling 3.0 with Standard and Pro tiers; Spicy Motion Control runs on Kling 2.6, costs less at 720p (12 credits a second against 20 on Kling 3.0 Standard) and also offers 1080p.

Can I put a real person in the video?

Only yourself or someone who has given consent; fictional and AI-generated characters are fine. Under the Terms you are responsible for the rights and consents behind every image and video you upload.

How is this different from image-to-video in the Video Lab?

Character Swap copies movement that already exists in a reference video. If you would rather describe the motion in words, animate the image in the Video Lab.

What happens to the image and video I upload?

They are processed by Spicy Studio and the AI provider running the model, stored temporarily during generation and may be retained for service improvement, as the Privacy Policy explains; you keep ownership and can request deletion at any time. Unless you opt out, results that aren’t 18+ may also be used for service improvement and marketing.
