Kling vs Veo vs Seedance: AI Video Generators Compared (2026)
Seedance 2.5 and 2.0, Kling 3.0, Kling Omni O3 and Veo 3.1 compared on length, resolution, audio, references and credits. Spicy Studio's own comparison.
The Best AI Video Generator Depends on the Shot
In Spicy Studio's Video Lab, the shot usually picks the model.
Pick Seedance 2.5 when a clip runs past 15 seconds, needs sound from the same pass or must follow reference images, video or audio.
Pick Seedance 2.0 when 720p is enough and you want those references, or a locked camera, for fewer credits.
Pick Kling 3.0 when your first frame is final and you want a controlled 5- or 10-second move.
Pick Kling Omni O3 when one clip needs several beats, each with its own prompt.
Pick Veo 3.1 when you need 4K, or one 8-second shot at a flat per-clip price.
Who Wrote This and How We Compared
Spicy Studio wrote this comparison and sells access to all five models, so it isn't independent. It compares the Video Lab's published specs and credit prices as of October 2026, not output quality; we ran no benchmarks. Comparing platforms? Side by Side: What Each Model Takes and Gives
Starting point. Seedance 2.5, Seedance 2.0 and Veo 3.1 work from text alone or a first frame, with an optional last frame. Kling 3.0 and Kling Omni O3 need a first frame; an end frame is optional (Kling models compared).
Length. Seedance 2.5 runs 4–30 seconds and 2.0 runs 5–15. Kling Omni O3 runs 3–15, optionally split into prompt segments of 3 seconds or more. Kling 3.0 makes 5 or 10, Veo 3.1 always 8.
Resolution. Only Veo 3.1 offers 4K, besides 720p and 1080p. Seedance 2.5 spans 480p–1080p and 2.0 480p–720p; Kling 3.0 is 720p on Standard, 1080p on Pro. Kling Omni O3 offers Standard and Premium tiers instead.
Sound. Seedance 2.5 adds native audio by default and 2.0 on request, at no extra cost; Kling charges more per second with sound. Veo 3.1 has no audio setting in the Video Lab, so pick Seedance or Kling when sound is a must.
References. Only Seedance takes references beyond frames: up to 10 images, 2–30 seconds of video and 30 of audio on 2.5, or 7 images, 2–15 seconds of video and 15 of audio on 2.0. On both, a first or last frame switches all references off, so a run uses frames or references, not both.
Aspect ratio. All but Kling Omni O3, which follows your first frame, offer 16:9 and 9:16. Kling 3.0 adds 1:1; Seedance adds 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 21:9 and adaptive.
What a Clip Costs in Credits
Four models bill per second; Veo 3.1 charges per 8-second clip.
Seedance 2.5: 10, 22 or 39 credits a second at 480p, 720p or 1080p (50, 110 or 195 for 5 seconds).
Seedance 2.0: 7 or 15 a second at 480p or 720p (35 or 75 for 5 seconds).
Kling 3.0: 12 a second on Standard and 16 on Pro (60 or 80 for 5 seconds), or 18 and 24 with sound.
Kling Omni O3: 14 on Standard and 19 on Premium (70 or 95 for 5 seconds), or 19 and 24 with sound.
Veo 3.1: 80, 110 or 200 credits per clip at 720p, 1080p or 4K.
Thirty seconds of Seedance 2.5 at 1080p is 1,170 credits, so draft long ideas at 480p. At 720p, Veo 3.1 is the cheapest per second and Seedance 2.5 the priciest. Plans: pricing.
Test One Shot on All Five for 295 Credits
Specs narrow the list; your shot settles it.
1. One first frame, made in the Image Lab so every model starts from the same picture (image models compared).
2. One prompt with subject, action, camera move and light: “A ceramic mug on a walnut desk by a rainy window, steam rising, slow push-in, soft morning light.”
3. The cheapest settings: 5 seconds each on Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 at 480p (35 and 50 credits), Kling 3.0 Standard (60) and Kling Omni O3 Standard (70), plus one Veo 3.1 clip at 720p (80). That's 295 credits, about half a Spicy Basic month (€10 for 600).
4. Judge against the job (product accuracy, motion, framing), then render the final on the winner. Prompt help: Seedance prompts and image to video.
Still Looking for Sora?
Sora is no longer available, and Spicy Studio doesn't offer Sora 2 or Sora 2 Pro. OpenAI announced on March 24, 2026 that it would shut Sora down. The app closed in April 2026, and OpenAI's API deprecations page shows the Sora API, sora-2 and sora-2-pro removed on September 24, 2026. Instead, try Seedance 2.5 for long clips with native audio, Veo 3.1 for high-fidelity shots up to 4K and Kling 3.0 for controlled motion from a still. More: Sora 2 guide.
