Spicy Studio vs Runway (2026): Which AI Video Tool Fits You?

Choose Runway to change footage you already have. Its Aleph 2.0 model edits a whole clip from a plain-language request, Ruby turns SDR video into HDR masters, and plugins bring Runway into Premiere Pro and After Effects. Node-based Workflows, Brand Kits and team plans suit studios and agencies.

Choose Spicy Studio to generate images and short videos on a small budget. Every model is included from €10 a month, editing utilities are priced per job, the playbook and free Spicy Academy courses walk you through workflows, and adults get uncensored 18+ models on the same credits.

Runway's own models lead: Gen-4.5, its flagship video generator, and Aleph 2.0, its video editing model. With Aleph you describe one change, such as a new product color, preview it as an image, and Aleph carries it through clips of up to 30 seconds at 1080p, leaving the rest alone. Ready-made apps relight scenes, swap backdrops, remove objects and add dialogue.

Runway also hosts other companies' models, such as Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, Nano Banana Pro and Wan 3.0, plus music, voice and sound-effect generation. So model access alone no longer separates the two: both give you Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0 and Nano Banana Pro.

Editing existing video: Runway. Spicy Studio's video tools clean up 3–15 second clips: the Eraser (4 credits a second; the mask covers every frame, so it suits static overlays), the Background Remover (2 credits a second) and the Watermark Remover for footage you own. It has no describe-a-change editing like Aleph.

Generating video: close, so compare models and prices. Runway's Gen-4.5 costs 12 credits a second. Spicy Studio's Video Lab has Seedance 2.5 (4–30 seconds with native audio), Kling 3.0 (5 or 10 seconds from a start frame), Kling Omni O3 (chained segments with separate prompts, up to 15 seconds), Veo 3.1 (8-second clips up to 4K) and Seedance 2.0.

Images and upscaling. Spicy Studio offers Nano Banana 2.1 with up to 14 references, GPT Image 2.5, Spicy Imagine Pro (Seedream 5.0) and Image Upscale to 8K for 12 credits. Runway has Gen-4 Image plus Nano Banana and Seedream models, and 4K video upscaling on paid plans.

Characters and voice. Runway maps your voice and expressions onto a character, and Pro adds a custom voice clone. Spicy Studio's Character Swap moves a character image with a driving video (Kling 3.0 Motion Control, 20 credits a second at Standard), and Lip Sync makes a face photo speak an MP3 of up to 60 seconds.

18+ content: Spicy Studio. Runway's Usage Policy (updated March 6, 2026) prohibits sexually explicit content and adult nudity, and may limit suggestive content such as lingerie. Spicy Studio's four uncensored models, Spicy UNCENSORED, Wan 2.7 Image, Spicy UNCENSORED Video and HappyHorse 1.1, are for adults 18+ and fictional or consenting adults only. Content involving minors, non-consent or real people without documented consent is prohibited. Generations are private by default, and mature-model work isn't used for marketing or promotion.

Runway, in US dollars: - Free: $0, with 125 one-time credits that don't expire and a selection of models. - Standard: $15 a month, or $12 billed yearly, for 625 credits, which Runway equates to 52 seconds of Gen-4.5. - Pro: $35 a month, or $28 billed yearly, for 2,250 credits. - Max: $95 a month, or $76 billed yearly, for 9,500 credits, with one month of rollover. Standard and Pro credits don't roll over; extra credits come in blocks of at least 1,000 and never expire.

Spicy Studio, in euros: 25 free credits on sign-up with no card, then Spicy Basic at €10 a month for 600 credits, Spicy Pro €25 for 1,800, Spicy Ultimate €50 for 3,800 or Spicy Creator €80 for 7,200. Take Nano Banana Pro at 2K, which both sell. Runway charges 20 credits (it counts 475 images in 9,500 credits), about $0.48 an image on Standard or $0.20 on Max, billed monthly. Spicy Studio charges 12 credits, about €0.20 on Spicy Basic.

Run one brief on both, as one image and one 5-second clip, for example: “A 41-year-old chef plates a dessert under warm kitchen light, slow push-in, steam rising.”

On Runway, the 125 free credits sample a selection of its models; if editing is why you're looking, judge it on one Aleph 2.0 change to a clip you own. On Spicy Studio, 25 free credits make two Nano Banana 2.1 images at 2K, and a €2 top-up covers a 5-second Kling 3.0 Standard clip (60 credits).
