AI Video Upscaler: Bring Clips Up to 1080p, 2K or 4K

Video Upscale re-renders a short clip at 1080p, 2K or 4K. It runs on the ByteDance Video Upscaler, a super-resolution model that recovers detail, cleans up the faint ripples (ringing) that compression leaves along edges and keeps the result consistent from frame to frame, so added detail stays steady instead of flickering.

It works with live-action footage, animation and vertical shorts. It is a natural last step for AI video: generate in the Video Lab at 480p or 720p, pick the take you like and press Upscale Video on it. You can also upload your own MP4, WebM or MOV.

How to upscale a video in four steps

  1. Add the clip

Upload an MP4, WebM or MOV file of 3 to 15 seconds and up to 50 MB, or press Upscale Video on a finished video in the studio to send it here.

  2. Choose the resolution

1080p costs 16 credits, 2K costs 28 and 4K costs 56. The price is per clip, so a 15-second video costs the same as a 3-second one.

  3. Start the upscale

The cost is shown next to the Upscale button before you spend anything. Video jobs can take a few minutes, and if one fails its credits are refunded.

  4. Review and download

Play the result at full size, check fine patterns and any on-screen text, then download the file.

One model, three resolutions

  • ByteDance Video Upscaler

Super-resolution for short clips, with detail recovery, de-ringing and temporal consistency. It handles live action, animation and vertical shorts.

  • 1080p · 16 credits

A common size for vertical video on Reels, TikTok and Shorts, and the cheapest way to lift a 480p or 720p AI clip.

  • 2K · 28 credits

Room to crop or reframe in the edit, or a sharper picture on large monitors.

  • 4K · 56 credits

For 4K uploads, big screens and edits where the clip sits next to 4K footage.

Every other model in the studio, with its prices and strengths, is listed on the AI Models page.

Draft cheap, finish sharp

Resolution drives the price of AI video. A 5-second Seedance 2.5 clip costs 50 credits at 480p and 195 at 1080p. Render your drafts at 480p, upscale only the keeper to 1080p, and that clip comes to 66 credits; the difference pays for two more 480p drafts.

An upscaler sharpens the frames it receives. It doesn’t fix awkward motion or a badly drawn hand, so get the take right first and upscale it afterwards.

Video Upscale FAQ

How many credits does a video upscale cost?

16 credits to 1080p, 28 to 2K and 56 to 4K, charged once per clip whatever its length. The 25 free credits on a new account cover one 1080p upscale.

What video can I upload?

MP4, WebM or MOV files between 3 and 15 seconds long and up to 50 MB. For a longer video, cut it into parts of 15 seconds or less and upscale each one.

Can I upscale a video I made in Spicy Studio?

Yes. Press Upscale Video on any finished video and it loads straight into this tool.

Does it work on animation and vertical videos?

Yes. The ByteDance Video Upscaler supports live-action footage, animation and vertical shorts.

Will the upscaled video flicker?

The model is built for temporal consistency, which keeps added detail steady from one frame to the next. It also removes ringing, the faint ripples that compression leaves along sharp edges.

Can I use the upscaled clip commercially?

Under the Terms you own what you generate, subject to the licences of the underlying models. You need the rights to the footage you upload, and outputs carry metadata that marks them as AI-generated.

What happens to the videos I upload?

They are processed by Spicy Studio and the AI provider that runs the model, stored temporarily during the job and may be kept for service improvement. You keep ownership and can request deletion at any time, as the Privacy Policy explains.
