How to Remove a Watermark From Your Own Video or Image (2026)

Remove a logo, caption or date stamp from videos and images you own: 4 credits per image, 2 credits a second for video, and when removal isn't legal.

First Question: Is It Yours to Remove?

The Watermark Remover will process whatever you upload, so the rule is on you: use it only on content you own or have the right to edit. Under Spicy Studio's Terms, you're responsible for the rights to your uploads and to anything you publish.

Fine to clean: - your own videos that picked up a platform logo and your handle when you saved them, such as a TikTok you want to post as a Reel - your brand's old logo or handle on your own photos and videos after a rebrand - date stamps from an old camera on your own pictures - captions or subtitles burned into your own footage - client photos or videos you're licensed to edit - AI images or clips you generated, if the tool that marked them allows it

That last point needs a check. TikTok's Terms of Service (updated July 15, 2026), for example, forbid removing watermarks or other markings from output of its AI features to pass it off as human-made.

Not yours to clean: stock previews from Shutterstock, Getty Images, Adobe Stock or iStock, a photographer's proofs, other creators' videos, and TV or news logos on footage you don't own.

Why Stock Watermarks Are Off Limits

A stock watermark marks a preview that hasn't been licensed yet. Removing it doesn't give you a license; buying one does, and then you download the clean file anyway.

In the US, removing it can also be a violation in its own right. Section 1202 of the DMCA prohibits intentionally removing copyright management information, which can include a watermark naming the author or owner, when you know or have reasonable grounds to know it will help enable or conceal infringement. A court can award statutory damages of $2,500 to $25,000 for each violation (17 U.S.C. §§ 1202–1203, checked October 2026). Many other countries protect this information too. This isn't legal advice; if you're unsure, ask the rights holder.

Remove a Watermark From an Image

1. Open the Image Watermark Remover.

2. Upload the image: JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 50 MB. Use the original file; a screenshot or a re-shared copy gives the AI less detail to rebuild from.

3. Click Remove Watermark. The tool finds marks, logos and overlaid text by itself and rebuilds the texture underneath instead of blurring it. It costs 4 credits, refunded automatically if the job fails.

4. Check the whole picture, not just the corner, and make sure text you wanted to keep, such as a label on a product, is still there.

Remove a Watermark From a Video

1. Cut the clip to 3–15 seconds (MP4, WebM or MOV, up to 50 MB). The tool is built for short pieces such as an intro, an outro or a single shot.

2. Open the Video Watermark Remover and upload it.

3. Click Process Video. You'll be notified when it's ready.

It costs 2 credits per second, rounded up to whole seconds and billed for at least 5: 10 credits for a 5-second clip, 30 for 15 seconds.

For a full-length TikTok, the cleaner fix is the original: if the export from your phone or editing app still exists, post that instead of the downloaded copy.

When a Mark Doesn't Come Off Cleanly

Busy background behind the mark: foliage, water and crowds are the hardest to rebuild. A higher-resolution source helps.

A trace left in a fixed spot: switch to the Eraser, paint a mask over exactly that area and run it again. It costs 8 credits per image, or 4 per second of video, where the mask is applied to every frame.

A mark that moves around the frame: a fixed mask can't follow it, so describe it in the Eraser's prompt instead (“the TikTok logo and username”) and check the result all the way through.

The AI magic eraser guide explains masks and prompts in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it legal to remove a watermark?

+

It depends on whose watermark it is. Removing your own, or one from content you're licensed to edit, is fine. Removing someone else's, such as a stock agency's, doesn't license the content and can breach Section 1202 of the DMCA in the US. This isn't legal advice.

Can I remove the TikTok watermark from my own video?

+

Yes, it's your video. Clips of 3–15 seconds can go through the Video Watermark Remover at 2 credits a second. For longer videos, post the original file from your phone or editing app instead of the downloaded copy.

Can I remove a watermark from a stock photo?

+

Not without a license. The watermark marks an unlicensed preview: buy the license and download the clean file. Removing the mark yourself gives you no rights to the image.

Is the watermark remover free?

+

Free to try: new accounts get 25 credits with no card, enough for six images at 4 credits each or one video of up to 12 seconds. After that, credits start at €2 for 90.

Does it just blur the watermark?

+

No. It rebuilds the area under the mark from the surrounding detail. It works best on simple backgrounds and high-resolution files.
