AI Templates for Creators: Thumbnails, Covers and Channel Art

Use AI templates to make YouTube thumbnails, TikTok covers and channel banners with your own face: a repeatable workflow, the right sizes and what it costs.

Your Face Is the Thumbnail

Most creator graphics come down to the same three ingredients: a recognizable face, a clear emotion and a scene that hints at the story. Shooting that look every week means lights, a backdrop and editing time. An AI template already has the scene and the lighting worked out; you bring the face.

On Spicy Studio, a template takes your photo and places you in its look, so one good selfie can become a thumbnail, a series cover or a banner. This guide shows a workflow you can repeat for every upload, plus the sizes each platform asks for.

A Thumbnail Workflow You Can Repeat Weekly

Pick a look per series. In the template gallery, choose a Cinematic template whose mood fits the video: dramatic side light for a story, bright and clean for a tutorial.

Shoot the expression, not just the face. Take a well-lit, front-facing photo pulling the reaction the video needs, whether that's surprise, focus or a grin. The template keeps its style but your expression carries the click.

Generate at 2K. Each template generation is 18 credits at 1K or 2K (28 at 4K). Run two or three photos and keep the best.

Add your title in an editor. Templates don't add your text. If you want words rendered inside the image itself, write your own prompt in the Image Lab with GPT Image 2.5, which handles in-image text well.

Export at the right size. YouTube's help center recommends 3840 × 2160 pixels for video thumbnails (minimum width 640, 16:9) and 2160 × 3840 for Shorts (9:16), as JPG or PNG. If your result is smaller, Image Upscale takes it to 2K, 4K or 8K for 8, 10 or 12 credits.

Covers That Make a Profile Look Like a Series

A grid of covers that share one style tells a visitor what your channel is before they press play.

Lock the template. Use the same template for every episode of a series and change only your expression, outfit or a prop.

Keep your source photos consistent. Same distance from the camera, same angle, similar light. Store your best face photos in My Library so every new cover starts from the same reference.

Check the crop. TikTok and Instagram show covers cropped in the profile grid, so keep your face and any text near the center before you commit to a layout.

Channel Banners Without Losing Your Name to the Crop

Banners are wide and get cropped differently on TV, desktop and phone. YouTube's help center asks for at least 2048 × 1152 pixels at 16:9 (2560 × 1440 recommended), keeps text and logos inside a 1235 × 338 safe area at the minimum size, and caps the file at 6 MB.

Templates follow their own framing, so for a banner it's usually easier to write a short prompt in the Image Lab: Nano Banana 2.1 renders 16:9 at 2K or 4K (12 or 18 credits). Describe a calm, low-detail background and leave the center for your channel name, which you add afterward in an editor.

Where Templates Stop

They don't write the hook. A strong template can't save a vague title or a thumbnail that doesn't match the video.

They're still images. For an animated intro or a moving cover, take your best result into the Video Lab as a first frame.

They need honest use. Use your own face or people who agreed to it, and don't make thumbnails that promise something the video doesn't deliver. YouTube can reject thumbnails that break its Community Guidelines.

To learn what's inside a template, generate with it once: the prompt unlocks and you can copy it. Our guide to one-click templates covers that, and the content creator's AI toolkit looks at video, upscaling and editing tools for the rest of your workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make YouTube thumbnails with AI templates?

What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?

+

YouTube's help center recommends 3840 × 2160 pixels for video thumbnails with a minimum width of 640 pixels and a 16:9 ratio, and 2160 × 3840 (9:16) for Shorts. Upload JPG or PNG.
