Seedream 4.5 Guide: What It Does Well and How to Use Seedream Now

What ByteDance's Seedream 4.5 is good at, how to prompt it, and how to get the same strengths today with Seedream 5.0 in Spicy Imagine Pro, with settings and costs.

The Short Version

Seedream is ByteDance's family of image models, and Seedream 4.5 became popular for three things: realistic photos, legible text inside images, and edits that change one thing while keeping the rest of a reference intact.

Spicy Studio doesn't offer Seedream 4.5 itself. It offers the newer Seedream 5.0 in two places: Spicy Imagine Pro for general image creation and editing, and Spicy UNCENSORED for 18+ work. If you came here looking for Seedream 4.5, those are the models to use, and everything below applies to them.

What Seedream Is Good At

Realistic photographs. Natural light, believable skin and fabric texture, convincing interiors and products.

Reference-based edits. Give it one or more images and describe the change: a new background, different clothing, another season. Spicy Imagine Pro is built to preserve facial features, lighting and color tones from the references.

Combining references. Refer to uploaded images as Figure 1, Figure 2 and so on, and say what each contributes: a face from one, an outfit from another, a location from a third.

Where another model fits better. For dense typography and layout-heavy designs, GPT Image 2.5 is the stronger choice in the Image Lab. For the fastest everyday drafts, Nano Banana 2.1 is the default model.

Using Seedream 5.0 on Spicy Studio

1. Open the Image Lab and choose Spicy Imagine Pro.

2. Write a prompt (required), and optionally upload up to 10 reference images.

3. Pick an aspect ratio: 1:1, 3:4, 4:3, 16:9 or 9:16.

4. Pick 2K (8 credits) or 4K (15 credits), then generate.

There's no API key or ByteDance account involved; it runs on your Spicy Studio credits, and new accounts get 25 free credits. For mature content made by and for adults, the same Seedream 5.0 model powers Spicy UNCENSORED, covered in our uncensored AI image generator guide.

Prompts That Suit Seedream

Seedream responds well to plain descriptive sentences. Lead with the subject, then setting, light and the photographic style.

Portrait: “A 52-year-old architect in a charcoal turtleneck standing in her concrete studio, late afternoon light through tall windows, calm expression, editorial photography, 85mm lens.”

Product: “A ceramic pour-over coffee set on a walnut counter, steam rising, soft window light from the right, clean minimal kitchen, commercial product photography.”

Interior: “A small Scandinavian cabin living room with a wood stove, sheepskin rug and snow visible through the window, blue-hour light, architectural photography.”

Edit with references: “Keep the woman from Figure 1 exactly as she is. Place her in the café from Figure 2, morning light, same outfit.”

Getting the Most From It

Keep edits to one change. Change the background in one pass and the light in the next, so you can see what each instruction did.

Write what to keep. Start edit prompts with what must stay the same before what should change.

Finish large. Generate at 4K for print, or upscale a 2K keeper with Image Upscale (4K for 10 credits, 8K for 12).

Compare models. Run your best prompt on Spicy Imagine Pro and Nano Banana 2.1 and keep the better result; our AI image generators comparison explains the differences.
